Color Effects

In class today, you will complete the following activities related to draining, adding, and adjusting color in Photoshop. You will need to start a new PowerPoint presentation (very similar to our Variety Project). Each slide will highlight a specific effect that has to do with color in Photoshop.

NOTE: 2 EXAMPLES OF EACH

1-Draining Color--4 Pictures
  1. Find a picture which has a lot of colors
  2. Drain the color using one of the non-destructive techniques we discussed and practiced.
    • HINT: I like to use the Black & White Adjustment Layer
    • Adjust the contrast as necessary
    • Save the image as a JPEG.
    • Add both pictures to a PowerPoint slide.


 
2-Partial Color Effect-2-Pictures
  1. Fine a picture which has a lot of colors.
  2. Drain the color using one of the non-destructive techniques we discussed and practiced.
  3. Using an Adjustment Layers mask add at least three elements of color back into your image.
  4. Save the image as a JPEG.
  5. Add both pictures to a PowerPoint slide.


3-Fading Color to Black and White-4--Pictures
  1. Find a picture which has a lot of color.
  2. Drain the color using one of the non-destructive techniques we discussed and practiced.
  3. Using the Gradient tool apply a single color to transparant linear gradient to your image.
  4. Save the image as a JPEG.
  5. Add both pictures to a PowerPoint slide.



    4-Changing Color-4--Pictures
    1. Use any original image you would like.
    2. Add a new hue/saturation adjustment layer
    3. Change the color of the area you selected.
    4. Save the image as a JPEG.
    5. Add both pictures to a PowerPoint slide.


      5-Adding Color--2--Pictures
      1. Find a black and white picture that you would like to add color to.
      2. Add at least 5-8 new layers and change your blend mode to Color.
      3. Adjust the opacity as necessary and use your brush tool to color in the image with at least 4 different colors..
      4. Use the eraser tool to fix any mistakes.
      5. Save the image as a JPEG.
      6. Add both pictures to a PowerPoint slide.
