Section 5-Clipping Mask






Before you can create a clipping mask, you must first draw a custom shape. Refer to the post "How do I create a custom shape?" if you need further instructions #howdoi

  • From mini bridge, drag your image into your workspace
  • Use the custom shape tool and drag the shape over your picture. Photoshop will automatically create a new layer for the shape.
  • Rearrange the layers so that the picture is above the shape layer
  • There are two ways you can make the clipping mask
    • You can put your mouse between the shape and picture layer
    • Hold down ALT on the keyboard
    • Your mouse will look like this:


    • You can simply click and a clipping mask will automatically be created for you
OR
    • On the picture layer, right click the mouse and select "create clipping mask"
    •  Make sure to apply different strokes and gradients to your shapes.


    Requirements:

    4 different shapes with 4 different pictures
    o 4 different strokes must be used
    o 2 strokes must be gradients and 2 must be a solid color
